Official Notice of Seal Adoption and Transition

A New Era for The Tennessee Assembly

June 3, 2026

The Tennessee Assembly – Land and Soil Jurisdiction is pleased to announce the official adoption of a new Assembly Seal, approved by vote of the Assembly on June 2, 2026.

This announcement serves as formal notice to all members, coordinators, recording secretaries, committees, and the public that the newly adopted seal will be implemented across all Assembly platforms, publications, records, communications, and official materials moving forward.

Over the past several months, the Assembly has carefully evaluated multiple seal concepts, historical considerations, and jurisdictional concerns surrounding the use and representation of our Assembly identity. Through that process, important historical information came forward regarding the inclusion of a date that had previously appeared within the seal design. After careful review and consideration, it became clear that the date should be removed from future versions of the Assembly Seal.

Additionally, the Assembly recognized the importance of accurately reflecting its identity as The Tennessee Assembly – Land and Soil Jurisdiction. The newly adopted seal now properly incorporates this designation while preserving the spirit and heritage that inspired previous versions.

Honoring the Past While Embracing the Future

The new seal represents far more than a visual update. It reflects a thoughtful blending of Tennessee’s history, heritage, and future.

Drawing inspiration from both traditional and modern elements, the seal was intentionally designed to bridge the past and present. Within its imagery are representations of agriculture, commerce, forestry, civic institutions, transportation, and the many industries and communities that contribute to the strength of Tennessee.

A distinctive line of musical notes has also been incorporated into the design, recognizing Tennessee’s rich musical heritage and honoring Music City and the profound influence music has had throughout our state’s history.

Together, these elements symbolize a simple truth:

Tennessee is more than any single industry, region, or tradition.

Tennessee is its people.

From the mountains of East Tennessee to the rivers of West Tennessee, from farms and forests to towns, cities, businesses, and communities, this seal represents the heartbeat of our state and the people who call it home.

The Assembly is deeply grateful for the many hours of thought, discussion, creativity, and teamwork that contributed to the creation of this seal. It stands as a reflection of collaboration, respect for history, and a shared vision for the future.

Preserving Our History

As we move forward with the new seal, we also wish to recognize and honor the seal that has faithfully served the Assembly up to this point.

The previous seal remains an important part of our Assembly’s history and development. It represents a chapter of growth, dedication, and service that helped bring us to where we are today.

The Tennessee Assembly will preserve and safeguard the original seal as part of its historical record. We extend our sincere appreciation to its creator and to all those who contributed to its use throughout the years. Their efforts remain a valued part of our Assembly’s story and legacy.

Transition Period

Members may notice a gradual transition as websites, publications, social media platforms, forms, documents, correspondence, recording systems, and official materials are updated to reflect the newly adopted seal.

The Assembly is actively working to provide updated materials for Recording Secretaries, committees, and state-level operations. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as these updates are completed.

Moving Forward Together

The adoption of this seal marks more than a design change—it marks the beginning of a new chapter.

With respect for our past and confidence in our future, The Tennessee Assembly – Land and Soil Jurisdiction moves forward united in purpose, committed to service, education, community, and stewardship for generations to come.

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and dedication as we enter this new era together.

With Respect and Appreciation,

Debbie Jo Gilman – Chairman
